WHAT THINGS WILL BE TRENDING THIS YEAR ON PINTEREST?
Pinterest makes each year a review of things that they predict to be big in the next year. I love their report because it gives a good understanding what you should pin in order to be on top of the trends.
I chose some of the trends that I feel will be big in 2017. Pinterest listed 100 trends altogether.
This year - 2017 - there are really interesting topics that people are interested in. Let's dive in and see how you could use those trends in your pinning.
FOOD
The biggest category on Pinterest is food. You cannot go to Pinterest without seeing some recipes and tips how to bake and cook.
1. BUDDHA BOWLS
All kinds of smoothie and acai bowls have been really pinned recipes. Now, your bowls should be full of healthy vegetables, proteins, grains, and dressings. Also, restaurants will be migrating bowls to their menus. Now you know what kind of recipes you should make and pin this year!
2. JACKFRUIT
This trend is so interesting! Jackfruit will be replacing meat. Start creating recipes where jackfruit will be the "pulled pork for vegetarians" and you will be on top of food trends in 2017!
3. VEGETABLE CHIPS
Zucchini chips and other healthy, clean eating chips will be hot in 2017. People will search for healthy snacks more and more on Pinterest. And hey, veggie chips are pretty easy to do.
4. SOUS VIDE
Sous vide means "set-it-and-forget-it" way of cooking. It means that also lazy people and their ways of cooking will be trending on Pinterest. Put your ingredients in a sealable plastic bag, cook them in a saucepan of water and you are ready to go for Pinterest success.
INTERIOR AND HOME DECOR
Home decor ideas are the third biggest category on Pinterest. People will look inspiration for their renovation and DIY projects as well as see what's trending on home decorations.
I'm pretty excited these trends as I really like browse and pin home decor and interior inspirations on my boards.
1. BIG INDOOR PLANTS
Plants, plants, plants...they have been everywhere for a while now but their journey continue. The indoor plant trend is especially targeted towards climbing plants and vines. This trend will possibly be seen also on graphics design.
2. BLUE
It seems that Scandinavian white walls and surfaces will be an almost gone trend on Pinterest but instead everything with navy and deep blue tones will emerge.
Could you use those deep blue tones in your own marketing to get something out of that trend?
3. HYGGE
Oh, how I love hygge and I'm so pleased that its' hype will continue this year, too. Hygge means simple living and it's originated from Denmark. Hygge is everything cozy and zen.
4. MARBLE WALLPAPER
Marble has been a hit already in 2016 but now it continues to surprise us in wallpapers. So, you can continue showcasing your marbled flat lays on Pinterest and they are still on trend.
5. FARMHOUSE STYLE
Country vibes and a farm house inspired decor will arise during 2017. People want to feel like they are living in a countryside. Create an atmosphere where you'll feel cozy.
FASHION AND STYLE ON PINTEREST
Style category is the second largest one on Pinterest and people are really looking things to buy when they are searching for style inspiration.
1. BELL SLEEVES
Tops with romantic bell sleeves are going to be huge on Pinterest. They will replace off-the-shoulder tops as the most sought after tops.
2. MULTIPLE EARRINGS
If you are a jewelry maker, you should concentrate doing earrings this year as people will start to wear multiple earrings at the same time. Show off how you could layer your multiple earrings and your pins will get pinned.
3. BACKLESS SHOES
Backless shoes have always been on the market but now they are hitting on a hard time.
4. KHAKI
Khaki and nude will be new black on Pinterest. You will see lots of neutral shades and camel coats. When you are thinking about what to pin and what kind of pins to create, remember to keep neutrals in your color palette.

During January to April, people are pinning health, fitness and wellness pins the most.
1. YIN YOGA
If you have to choose just one yoga to try this year, choose Yin yoga because it will be hit. Yin yoga is a calm yoga which concentrates on slow and long asanas. Yoga infographics tend to be pinned a lot.
2. HEALTHY DRINKS
Healthy food and drinks continue to interest people. People want to make their drinks themselves. Show them how to make healthy all-natural drinks at home. Pin long and colorful drink images to attract pinners.
3. AB EXCERSICES
If you have something new to offer for people who want their abs to look great, know it is your time to pin it to Pinterest. People want to see different methods. Pins with inspiring ab exercises with a medicine ball or resistance band will be popular in 2017.

1. KYOTO
Kyoto would be the most popular travel destination in 2017. Start planning your trip!
2. ADVENTURE TRAVEL
No more romantic escapes with just two of you but instead more adventure travel pins will be found on Pinterest. Hiking, climbing, camping etc.
3. SEASONAL BUCKET LISTS
Who does not love bucket lists? Seasonal bucket lists will really be trending in 2017. Can you create a bucket list for Valentine's Day romantic evening or what about Mother's Day destinations? All kinds of bucket lists are also great as Pinterest board names.
4. CAPSULE TRAVEL WARDROBE
How to travel with the minimum amount of clothes with you. Minimalism is a big trend on style and fashion at the moment but now it goes to traveling as well. Include capsule travel wardrobe inspiration to your travel packing tips or create a new board just for capsule travel.
